10 Not So Popular Insulting Names to call a Person
82You can't hide from the ignorant- they are everywhere...
A little laugh and lesson...
"The world is full of insults that come from the mouths of not so intelligent people", is what my mother use to say along with, "If you cuss and call each other names-you are truly then showing your ignorance". Okay Mom, I got the point-but can't we sound smart and throw some insults too? She said, "NO", but I think otherwise. Sure throwing around some of the more popular name calling nouns make us lose a few IQ points and appear less reputable as individuals each and every time we regress our behavior to partake in the insults and the common indecency (rudeness) of the human race, but what if you could add a little flavor? Say something with some individuality and shake up the verbal gander with something a little less expecting, or at least expand your knowledge of the English language and learn some new words today...
Smarter, it will probably not make you- but perhaps a bit more creative for the next time you find yourself in a little spat, not to mention 9 out of 10 people will not have a clue as to what you just said...Have a little laugh and a little fun and learn some new words today- it wont take very long...

Words that I never heard hope that no one calls me some of them. Good information.
Hey Holly, half of these words I've never even heard of, so I guess you are my teacher today. :) :D Then again, I don't mind learning, either from you or your hub. :) :P I did however have a great laugh when I read the caption on the Paris Hilton picture. I think the silver spoon she was born with had an engraving on it saying- Paris never needs a dictionary. :P :) Thank you for sharing. :)
Great, funny,interesting and entertaining hub!
Ah ha, so many new words for that ultimate insult. Love the collection, the descriptions and the entertainment. Thank you!
Some of these words sound like they're from the BALDERDASH boardgame, which has a category of cards for obscure words. You win points not for guessing the real meaning, but for getting people to vote for fake meanings the players have secretly mixed in with the real meaning.
Old insult-words from the past include "addle-pated" and "varlet".
All I can say is our dinner conversation tonight will be quite the extraordinary as we practice our new vocabulary...Very entertaining...thanks
All I can say is that if I continue to act like a cockalorum, people will say I'm a ninnyhammer-and I can't have that, now can I?
Funny, funny hub, Holly-thanks for the early morning chuckles! I so love words!
And I thought I was a dunderhead. Perhaps one should remove thyself from 18th century English literature? Kewl hub, and thanks for giving me a few new twists in my voluminous vocabulary.
Beats calling someone a sh**bird.
The New Testament offers, "call no man a fool." That's the likely origin of your etiquettely-minded mother. Of course, it could just be she was raised well, instead of a hellraiser.
BDddd-Bdddd-bdddd...that's all folks! Exit with theme music from the Looney Tunes!
My favorites are dumbass and knob. Thanks again for sharing.
I have always liked NIMROD, even though I didn't have a clue as to what was a NIM.
I also think that Tone is also very important in insults, it is not what you say but how you say it.
These kinds of insults usually have adjectives before them.

This not only deserves a vote up, but a bookmark too!
English is a great language for insulting.
Every time I refer to someone as a 'miscreant' someone always says, 'Huh'.
Thanks for putting a smile on my face. I'm voting this up. A few of those I hadn't heard before.

My friend's favorite is 'doughhead.' Always reminds me of the Pillsbury dough boy.
I've used ignoramus, but dolthead? That is hilarious!
My brother and I used nitwit a lot when we were kids. There wasn't much we were allowed to say and we had to express ourselves somehow. Our vocabulary was also heavy on phooey and lout.
It's pretty funny that most of those words are hard to pronounce! :)
Dolthead... Hahaha never heard of that one. Great list, full of ammo for all my ex-boyfriends. :-)
What a Humdinger of a hub, this was really groovy! LOL.
Started reading this Hub and thought i would know most of the words so i was feeling like a cockalorum, but after finishing i now realise i've been a ninnyhammer all along.
Another really good Hub H.C Porter. Fun to read, and i imagine to write.
Cheers. Michael.
hilarious!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
*pause*
... AHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Great hub. =]
Thanks for the awesome hub. Haha.
I really like the word ninny-hammer!
Great Job holly! I posted this on my FB
i love the words..new words for me and currently very new to HP and I found this hub of yours pretty good and cool. Great hub pretty H.C Potter :)
I'd love to see someone create an entire comedy act with people slinging these words back and forth. Anyone who was actually angry would be falling on the floor laughing. Very entertaining hub! I enjoyed every word. Voted up, interesting and funny. What the heck - useful, too. You never know when we might need one of these!
This makes me laugh! Glad to learn from you H.C Porter. Very hilarious yet informational article! :)
Great hub, Holly! The English, especially those who work below stairs, are experts at the uncommon chop-em-off-at-the-ankles putdown, but none would apply here as they're rarely confined to just a single word!
Voted up, funny, and awesome! ;D
This is such a cute hub. Take care, Kelley
Can't wait to use the term "smellfungus." I know a couple of people it fits. ;-)
