If I didn't have tomorrow
62I hope I am always here-but in case I am not- I want them to remember I was.
If you do not know what really matters, maybe it's time to figure it out?
If I could no longer wake up
To the sun shining on my face
It doesn’t take me a life time
To know what I would miss.
It wouldn’t be; Late nights at the office
Or dinner with my friends
Or climbing the corporate latter-
And hoping Ill fit in.
If I didn’t wake tomorrow
What I fear the most
Is leaving my children in a world
That can be frightening and cold.
I'm scared that they won’t remember
Or ever really know
Who their mother was
And they were her whole entire world.
A tear falls from my eyes
When I sit back and think
How amazing they will someday be
Even without me
She will be beautiful and strong
And follow what’s in her heart.
He will be gentle and kind
And bring new meaning to what it is to be smart
I pray that they will know
What is right and what is wrong
And when integrity is on the line
They won’t put theirs in jeopardy
I hope people who knew me will tell them stories
But leave the bad parts out
Focus on the way I love them
And because of them-I was never made to do without
I hope that they will know
That they made me whole
And when I thought that I would fall apart
Their smiles gave a new story to be told
Never in my life
Could I have wished for anything more
Than to be apart of who they are
They are everything in life I adore.
There will never be enough pictures taken
Or enough words that can be sung
For me to be satisfied that they will always know
Who I was.
So while I am still breathing
I make a packed with myself
That as long as I am on this earth
They are what matters and everything my life is about
Others will have to wait
I do apologize
But sometimes you have to take a moment
To stare at stars and sing lullabies.

Lovely, H.C.
Thank you.
Don't worry H.C. they will never forget you .No matter what. They own you now.
Very wonderful words, as always. Your children will never forget you and the love you feel for them. They may become caught up in life's moments, but like you, they will always remember what is important. Your love for your family is so beautiful. Take care.
Mike
HC I think that you will be around for awhile! Life is short for all of us, and we live each day as if was our last. Please focus on your kids and continue to fill their days with happiness.
Is that Uncle Jim in the last picture? lol As usual little one great writing skills.
Hey Holly, that was perfectly said. Nothing more to say. I'm not a parent so I really don't have any of the feelings you relay in your writing, but your feelings are conveyed in a very heart-felt and deep manner that it couldn't be missed. Thank you for sharing a piece of yourself. As always, it's a pleasure to know you. :)
This is a beautiful heartfelt poem you have wtitten

Beautiful, simply beautiful. Thank you for sharing straight from your heart. Thumbs up & awesome.
I have been estranged from 3 of my 4 children for many years, although I know they never will forget me, they have no desire to be part of my life and that is sad for me and I know for them.
I pray that you stay tight and close to your children, never ever let them leave your life. Keep the glue of LOVE stuck on you and your husband. Always make your children the main focus in your life and life will reward you all with a closeness only angels have with God. Peace and hugs words can not express how beautifully you worded this. Bravo
Nicely written and very personal. Reminds me of the importance of family. Thanks for sharing.
Beautifully written! Words felt like they came straight from the heart.
How beautiful, such adoring little faces, and the words you put to the love you have is fantastic! I have read a lot of poetry, this one brought tears to my eyes, not in a bad way, but in beauty, the beauty of a mother.
Thank you for sharing that with us. I love the last picture of innocence, them looking up at their mother, trusting and loving.
Blessings,
Laurie
You've put into words so eloquently; how most mothers feel about their children and what life would be like if they left them behind. This is a great reminder for all of us to live our lives with our children to the fullest and make everyday count. - I love the pictures.
