Six Strange Random Questions and Answers, asked by Harvard College Students
77If no one ever asked crazy questions-we wouldn't have the opportunity to learn the truth in the answers.
Don't Ask Why, They Just Were, Okay?
Hey there, you! Yes, you!
Do you want to be smarter than you were when you woke up this morning?
If you said, "No", go ahead and slap yourself, because if you really said "No", and you are content with the knowledge you have here and now, I want to slap you.
For the rest of you, the intelligent bunch whom have answered, YES- with enthusiasm and eagerness, you would love to be smarter, THAT IS GREAT! I wish you the best of luck with accomplishing that goal for today, it is a very admirable quality to be driven to improve upon your intellect.
On the other hand, I can share something to help feed that need for knowledge. I am not so sure 'Smarter' is the word I would use, perhaps, informed? None the less- I shall contribute some random tidbits of truthful facts for your entertainment purposed... Thus, I hope you enjoy... If not- Please accept my deepest condolences for misuse of my power to guide you here for an irrelevant read.
I woulda thought differently if I didn't know
Random questions college students ask for no particular reason, other than to be a pain in the butt.
Ask me a question and I will tell you the answer- is what my big mouth said in college to a group of know-it-all intellects. The deal was, ask and if I do not know I will find out and get back with you. Why? Well, honestly- I had nothing better to do on a Friday night, and I enjoy finding the answers to oddball questions. So they asked and I now have The Top Six Random Questions and their responding answers, asked by Harvard College Students.
(I hope you are not expecting these questions to hold any kind of sophistication, because that they do not....)
Questions Asked Deserve An Answer.
I bet you never knew you were missing out until now...
Q1-Can turtles really breathe through their butts?
A1- Some species of Turtle, which live underwater, can in fact breathe through their butts, specifically during hibernation.
Q2-Do bugs live in our eye lashes?
A2- Why yes, bugs do live in our eye lashes. They are called demodex mites, and they make themselves at home in the roots of your eye lashes. If you were to look at them through a microscope-they look similar to worms, but are actually a species of mites, like dust mites.
Q3-Is there really any danger or harm in picking your nose or eating your bugars?
A3-There is two answers to this question. First is yes, when you pick your nose, you introduce the germs which are on your hands into your body, and the same goes for when your finger makes its way back to your mouth…you could get sick, not from the act itself though. In fact if you cleanse your nose picking finger before it makes its way to your nose, you will probably be able to get some stuff released from your nostril that was not possible with simply blowing your nose into a tissue. If you are gross enough to actually move your findings from your nose into your digestive system, you may be happy to hear that eating your bugars can be a great way to strengthen your immune system. So, all you nose picking bugar eaters…wash your hands before you go digging for gold!
Q4- Why do mosquitoes go for certain people, and not others?
A4- Mosquito’s are attracted to smell and to a persons body temperature, which is logical, considering they are blood sucking insects, but did you know that mosquito’s are also attracted to looks. Yep, it is true- Mosquito’s prefer blondes over brunettes. I wonder if hair dye can fool them?
Q5- If I have a vehicle that has all wheel drive which does not turn off, do I have to replace all four tires when one becomes worn?
A5- It is advisable hat with All Wheel Drive Vehicles, if the tires are more than 25% worn when one tire has a flat; you replace all four tires or risk blowing the transmission. This is because if one tire is brand new and the others are worn, it is working (gripping the road) differently, and your vehicle/transmission can not adjust to the difference, which strains the transmission. Replace all four tires ASAP, just to be safe, rather than sorry.
Q6- Can Strawberries remove stains from my teeth?
A6- Yes, but you should be careful. Strawberries are not only acidic but brushing with the seeds after munching on them makes them extremely abrasive, not only removing stains, but removing enamel from your teeth.

And For those Hungry for More... A Bonus...
Bonus Question- What are some home remedies for keeping a cut infection free?
Bonus Answer- You can put many of handy household products on a cut to keep it from becoming infected, alcohol-but this will burn, and hurt worse than the cut itself. Next time you cut yourself you can stop the bleeding with Pepper. Black Pepper has analgesic, antibacterial, and antiseptic properties-so after you wash the area sprinkle a little pepper and apply a little pressure and walla…no more blood, and as shocking as it may be…Black Pepper does not burn. If you are more sugar than spice, back off the Pepper and reach for the Honey. Honey is equipped with powerful antibacterial properties that are capable of destroying a wide range of bacteria that commonly infect wounds. So before you wrap up that wound-sweeten it up. No Honey and No Pepper? That sucks, well you can always pee on yourself being that urine is also sanitary and can effectively flush a wound, but you may be a little stinky afterwards.
These questions go to show that just because someone gets into Harvard, it doesn’t mean that they don’t ask some of the same questions we wonder about, but never actually take the time to figure out. I hope that you learned a little something new from your read… If not, I apologize for not helping your intellect, try back later-maybe I can come up with something better at another time.

Lots of fun here. thanks for the ride!
This was so much fun! Delightful and informative read...thank you!
Hahaa, love the fun facts!!
Now I know, some turtles CAN breathe from their butts. Man, oh, man, I'm gonna go on Jeopardy!
Hey Holly, that was pretty cool. It's always funny when you did into archives of things "college students ask" type things. It does truly show that when they have the opportunity to openly ask a question, the questions they ask are not complex as people would like to think or believe. Thumbs up! :) Thank you. :)
1. Turtles breattheir Butt-hing out
2Mites I saw this on Thats Incredible in the 70's
3 Nose-EEEWWWW gross...
4 Mosquitos-I don't doubt it- I used to be radical mosquito meat but now after my operation I am just like a living off stick.
5.AWD working at different speeds- makes sense and then-
6. Strawberries-Who knew!!!

A very interesting list of the six strange questions Harvard students asked and answered. Its the little details like this that really keeps us intrigued and amazed with this world around us, turtles, who knew and strawberries removing stains on teeth, thats amazing I would have never imagined this and yet I have a strawberry patch here at home, I will def be giving this a go. Thanks for the refreshing read. :) katie
Thanks H.C., I really needed to know I have something that looks like worms in my eyelashes. Is that why the fish in my tank look at me the way they do?
Like the antiseptic advice. voted up/useful and funny.
For a cloudy Saturday afternoon I enjoyed your hub and learning those tidbits of information. Voted up!
I think I read that mosquitos prefer softer skin and will bite women and chidren more often than men. Is it possible that natural blondes have softer skin because they're from cooler climates and don't need as much protection from the sun? If so dying the hair would make no difference. Just speculating.
very informative hub you have written, keep on impacting peoples life.
Nice hub with some interesting questions and answers. I can clarify the four wheel drive/ tire question, having much four wheel drive (4WD) design and development and testing experience myself. A 4WD vehicle has two differentials and a transfer case or center differential that all work have to work harder whenever there is a an occasional speed difference between the tires such as due to going around a corner or over a bump. However, if one or more tires is smaller in diameter than the others due to wear or low air pressure, it rotates faster CONSTANTLY, and makes the differentials and transfer case work harder CONSTANTLY. The transmission is un-affected unless one of the differentials is included as part of it. So, to reduce wear, it is good to keep the rolling radius of all tires similar. By the way, the same logic goes for two wheel drive vehicles (front or rear wheel drive) for the two driven wheels sinced there is a differential between them. The rolling radius of the non-driven tires doesn't matter. I hope this isn't too much information for this venue.
HaHa, some great ones here...The mites in our eye lashes one scares me a bit though :S
Hi H.C Porter, i really liked this hub and i feel more equipped to enter quizzes with some of this fascinating info. picked up!!! Good fun hub. Michael.
